How I made it
This was my first cosplay really involving sewing… as well as the first involving my sewing machine I got for Christmas XD
I'd like to say I started this back in December, but didn't start to really work on it until weeks before the con, hence why I put weeks, but I'll be explaining everything as the process over the months... uh this will make more sense when you read it. ^^;
Anyways, I went to the city and bought the green and white fabric. Cut the green fabric to shape and sewed the top part. I would then not be able to work on the cosplay for months to come cuz school is evil and keeps a person from working on her cosplay >.< *ahem* So when the con was around the corner I went to work on the cosplay again for a bit. I bought the yellow fabric for the sash at a local fabric store. I cut the fabric, folded it, (hand) sewed the sash and put Velcro on the ends so I can put it on and take it off. I also bought supplies I needed still for the cosplay. Let’s see I bought a plastic rose from the Rag Shop, white thread and hooks (which I never actually used) from Manhattan Wardrobe and a fabric adhesive and Velcro from A.C. Moore. A couple of weeks would pass and I was able to work on my cosplay again since school was finished. YAY! XD I used the fabric adhesive for the white lining, but that came out horrible so I then decided to just sew the white lining and it looked a lot better. I used Velcro along the white lining that is in the inside. At the top around where the collar is did I cut on the Velcro so I could get my head in the tunic. Around this time while working on the tunic I went to the City, yet again, but this time for the red wig. I found an awesome Red wig at Ricky’s. I made the collar separate and attached it to the tunic itself and used Velcro at the collar too, once again, just so I could get my head through. At this point I went to Chinatown and bought the shoes and pants. I bought elastic at a fabric store on my way home from getting the pants and shoes. I tried sewing the elastic myself, but it broke the needle in my sewing machine. I decided not to chance breaking another needle and sent it out to be done at a tailor where needles don’t break at my expense… though my sewing machine came with a bunch of extra needles for the different sizes I really didn’t want to replace another needle since it was a pain to loosen the knob for taking out the needle. ^^; I finished up the collar and I used a white shirt I had in my closet… since I couldn’t find a long sleeve cotton shirt anywhere. A note to cosplayers: if you decide who you are going to cosplay as for a con in the summer and it is winter take that opportunity to buy a long sleeve shirt then since they are hard to find in the summer. XD I bought gel from Duane Reade and used it for my wig.
So yeah that’s it… that was an explanation that was a lot longer than it needed to be ^^;

Why I Made It
For AnimeNEXT 2007, but I’ll be using this for Halloween later this year and any other con I go to later this year as well.

I love your outfit! I'm working on my first Kurama cosplay outfit too! Though I couldn't find the right wig to use...so I've been just coloring my hair...
